New Resource for Designing YPAR Projects!

Funded by the Annie E. Casey foundation, Anna Ballonoff Suleiman, Amia Nash, Heather Kennedy, Michelle Abraczinskas, and Emily Ozer created a new resource for designing YPAR projects that uses insights from a review of the YPAR and developmental science literature.

Grant Alert!

The Bezos Family Foundation has approved a grant of $300,000 over three years to support the YPAR Research Network at UC-Berkeley! Dr. Abraczinskas is part of the steering committee for this grant, which aims to study and develop resources for effective YPAR implementation in schools.

Fall 2023

Ashley and Kieryth did a GREAT job presenting at the Undergraduate Research Expo! Ashley presented on her work on the use of YPAR evidence, and Kieryth presented on his work on supports available for youth with incarcerated parents.

Society for Community Research and Action Biennial 2023

Our team traveled to Atlanta for the SCRA Biennial and gave three presentations. Nathalie 'Are (FYCS grad 2023) and Kayla Greene (FYCS grad 2023) presented a poster titled "Experiences with racism and its impact on youth support seeking and activism across contexts during the dual pandemics of COVID-19 and racial injustice." Michelle Abraczinskas, Jenna Walsh (FYCS grad 2023), Ashley Orr (FYCS senior), and Erin Vines (FYCS PhD student) presented a symposium called "Adapting the interactive systems framework for YPAR: Bridging the research to action gap". Erin also collaborated with Raquel Rose, a PhD student from NYU, to co-facilitate a town hall called "Co-learning around conducting YPAR in out-of-school settings"

Society for Research on Adolesence Conference 2023

We met up with our Youth Wellbeing Network colleagues (Heather Kennedy and Noe Chavez) in beautiful San Diego to present part of a symposium titled "Promoting Youth Wellbeing through a Virtual Young Adult Network Pilot: Strengths and Limitations". We were also able to meet up and present with some of our other YPAR colleagues from universities all over the country. It was great to connect with everyone!
